Whole exome sequencing (WES):
Determining the exact DNA sequence of an individual’s exome including all coding regions.
Whole genome sequencing (WGS):
Determining the exact DNA sequence of an individual’s genome including all coding and non-coding regions.
Wild type (wt):
Refers to the reference or common allele or phenotype. (contrast to mutant or variant gene or allele).
